This repository holds the supplementary material for the PLOS ONE submission 'Effects of mobility on dialect change: Introducing the Linguistic Mobility Index' (PONE-D-22-12428R1) The contents of this repository is as follows: the two .Rmd files contain the reproducible code (written in R). The two html files (the files referred to as Supplementary Materials S1\_Appendix and S2\_Appendix) are the reports exported from the reproducible code and contain the construction of LMI and its evaluation using mixed-effects models, respectively. All other files contain data needed for reproducing LMI. the analyses. The Shapefile folder contains spatial information used in the geocoding process. For running the code, the following (partly overlapping) R packages are needed: tidygeocoder, lme4, sf, car, MuMIn, ggplot2 tidyr, dplyr, stringr, magrittr, tidyverse, grid, gridExtra, units, tmap, rgdal
