**ReSpAct 1.0** =============== Overview ------------ The “Rehabilitation, Sports and Active lifestyle” (ReSpAct) study is multicenter prospective cohort study. The ReSpAct study is established to evaluate a physical activity promotion program titled “Rehabilitation, Sports and Exercise”. This program aims to stimulate an active lifestyle among people with physical disabilities and/or chronic diseases during and after their rehabilitation treatment. The RSE program has been implemented in 12 rehabilitation centers and 6 rehabilitation departments of hospitals between across the Netherlands. The ReSpAct study 1.0 is established to evaluate the RSE program on an organizational, professional and patient level. Aims ---- The main objectives of the ReSpAct 1.0 study were: - To evaluate the implementation process of a physical activity promotion program (i.e. the RSE program) in 18 rehabilitation centers and hospitals across the Netherlands; - To gain a better insight into the change over time in physical activity behaviour, healthcare consumption, and health-related quality of life of people who participated in the RSE program; - To gain a better understanding of the heterogeneity in participants’ physical activity behaviour during and after participating in a physical activity promotion program. Study design and methods ---------------------------- The ReSpAct 1.0 study is a multicenter prospective cohort study conducted between the years 2012-2017. Eighteen (18) rehabilitation institutions, >70 rehabilitation professionals and >1700 people with physical disabilities or chronic diseases participated in the ReSpAct 1.0 study. A complete description of the design of the study is described elsewhere (see [Hoekstra et al.][1] and [Alingh et al.][2]). Funding ------- This study was funded by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (grant no. 319758) and Stichting Beatrixoord Noord-Nederland.
