Participants indicated their warmth toward Asian/White interracial couples.
Asian men reported less warmth towards White male/Asian female couples than
they did towards Asian male/White female couples. Asian women, in contrast,
did not differentiate between Asian male/White female couples and White
male/Asian female couples. For Asian men there was a negative trend between
the importance of finding an Asian partner and the warmth they reported
toward White male/Asian female couples. This suggests that Asian men’s
attitudes towards interracial couples might be shaped by their personal
preference of dating Asian women. There was a significant positive
correlation for women between the perceived availability of dateable Asian
men and the warmth towards Asian male-White female couple. Thus, if Asian
women think Asian men are more available, they may have a more positive
attitude towards Asian male-White female couples.
