Wiki Version:
---------- #### Our mission at the [Center for Open Science][1] is to make research more open and reproducible. We are improving the visibility and discoverability of research at African institutions by extending and adapting our free products and services through multiple initiatives: 1. **[OSF Sync][2]** brings powerful tools to researchers by overcoming Internet infrastructure barriers 2. **[Statistical Collaboration w/ LISA][3]** builds statistical capacity through training in statistics, lab creation and sustainability, and reproducible research 3. **[Training EASST fellows][4]** advances open research leadership through comprehensive training of research ambassadors 4. **[Open Research Collaboration with Busara][5]** models best practices for conducting open research through [Deliberative Lives: An Open Research Project][6] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ### About the Project The [Center for Open Science][7] is a non-profit science and technology company that offers free products and services to help support a researcher's entire research life cycle and improve the quality of research practices through inclusivity, transparency, and reproducibility of research. Recently, COS received a planning grant from the [Hewlett Foundation][8] to help us explore how our framework can be best adapted to local African communities in support of African research. As part of the grant, we will do the following in order to adapt our services to fit local needs in Africa: 1. **Establish an advisory panel** 2. **Create and update this OSF information commons** 3. **Explore several pilot initiatives** Following this, we will develop a strategic plan to pursue a broad effort to increase capacity of African research and its connectivity and inclusivity to the international research community.
