Description: Tendinopathy is the clinical diagnosis for load-related pain and disability localized to a specific tendon. Tendinopathies can occur in several locations, for example in the elbow (tennis elbow), knee (jumper’s knee) and Achilles tendon. In daily clinical practice, patients experience a substantial heterogeneity in how tendinopathies are explained to them. For this reason, an international project group designed a step-by-step approach to develop credible explanations for tendinopathy. The aim of this project is to create a set of credible explanations, for patients suffering from lateral elbow tendinopathy, gluteal tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy, midportion Achilles tendinopathy, insertional Achilles tendinopathy, and plantar fasciopathy. These credible explanations will be specific for the condition, evidence-based and align with end-user needs.
