Description: MPI decisions, such as Import Health Standards decisions, are informed by MPI reports, and specifically by the evidence and arguments presented in Import Risk Analysis reports. Since 2015 MPI has been taking steps to improve the presentation of evidence and arguments. These have included introducing the “CASE” argument mapping framework as basis for drafting report sections (van Gelder 2016). Have these steps made a difference to decision making? Should the strategy be continued, or modified? More generally, how does the manner of report drafting affect decisions?
