@[toc](Public Space Table of Contents) ------------ ## About the Public Space ## This area contains details of UK-ORWG conferences and meetings, international affiliates, a repository of current members and materials (e.g. minutes from local ORWG meetings), details of any meta-science studies being undertaken by the UK-ORWG or its members, information about open science initiatives supported by the UK-ORWG, and relevant presentations/talks. **Note to members:** Please add relevant content below or add a new wiki page (here are instructions for [adding][1] or [editing][2] a wiki page). ------------ ## Presentations ## - [Overview of the TOP Guidelines][3] - [Presentations][4] and [webinars][5] given by the Center for Open Science. - [Presentations][6] given by open science ambassadors. ------------ ## Syllabi ## - [Course Syllabi for Open and Reproducible Methods][7] ------------ ## Papers ## - [This collection includes][8] links to reproducibility projects, and scholarship about open science, preregistration, and Registered Reports. ------------ ## Conferences and Meetings ## ------------ ## Ongoing meta-science projects ## - Evaluating Registered Reports: A Naturalistic Comparative Study of Article Impact, https://osf.io/5y8w7/ ------------ ## Initiatives ## ### Peer Reviewer's Openness Initiative ### [Reviewers can help improve science][9] by requesting access to underlying data as a condition of offering a review. Read the introductory paper [here][10] and become a signatory at https://opennessinitiative.org/ ### Early Career Open Research Fellowship ### [A proposed initiative designed to][11] create an academic career track for ECRs who place transparency and reproducibility at the heart of their scientific vision. ### Editors4BetterResearch ### [For journal editors who commit][12] to valuing and upholding open and reproducible practices when assessing submitted manuscripts. ### Recognising Open Research Practices in Hiring Policies ### [One potentially powerful way][13] to normalise open research practices is to explicitly value them in hiring policies for institutional staff positions that involve research. Here, we propose a modular self-certification scheme for employers that we believe could help promote open science practices in recruitment. ### Registered Reports ### [Registered Reports][14] are peer reviewed before results are known. Research proposals that meet high standards of theoretical or applied value and methodological rigour are then accepted in advance, with final acceptance guaranteed regardless of the outcomes, provided researchers adhere to their approved protocol and conduct the research to a high standard. ### ASAPbio ambassador program ### ASAPbio (#asapbio) is a non-profit organisation working to improve transparency and innovation in life sciences communication in order to advance scientific discovery (in speed and integrity). Preprinting allows researchers to share, cite and get feedback on their work without delay and with greater transparency. The [ASAPbio ambassador program][15] is a grassroots initiative to raise awareness of preprints in biology and to encourage discussion of the benefits and concerns. Please reach out to Naomi Penfold (based in Edinburgh) to discuss (or sign up as ambassador to hear directly).
