Description: In the course of developing a research data repository for Eawag we initially used an ad-hoc metadata scheme to represent domain-specific information about the submitted datasets. It turned out that this approach doesn't scale well: The large variety of datasets submitted to the repository calls for a more consistent and systematic metadata-scheme. We attempt to build a domain-specific ontology expressed in OWL that is compatible with and uses parts of established ontologies. The primary application is the derivation of a meta-data schema for scientific datasets. Current status: Collecting material.
