Wiki Version:
General Lab Protocol ------------ A description of lab protocol for researchers who are conducting one or both sessions in-lab. Attached to this project is a copy of the sign-in sheet you will use and an example lab protocol. Participants ------------ Participants will be non-Black students from psychology participant pools and courses. Participants should not receive credit for participation until at least 48 hours after the first session (so that participants don't mistakenly think the study is over after the first session). Procedure --------- **Recording Issues During Data Collection** Notes for issues during data collection (e.g., technical errors) will be logged in the study at the end of each session (if possible) AND on a physical sign-in sheet ([click here for a copy][1]). Once you have completed data collection, you will send me a copy of that physical sign-in sheet (with email address redacted for privacy issues). If you are running both sessions in-lab, print two sign-in sheets, one for each session. Make sure that Subject # is the same across sessions. **Time 1** Before participants arrive, start up the study from the bookmarked link and fill out the experimenter questionnaire documenting your race/ethnicity, gender, and the number of participants for that session. Once participants arrive, record relevant info into the sign-in sheet and gives them the consent form to sign. Verbally tell participants that the study has multiple parts - one session now, one session in 24 hours. Then, sign participants into the study, making sure to entering the appropriate unique subject #. Once a participant is done and checks in with you, let them go and tell them that there will be a follow-up session in 24 hours. If the follow-up session will also be in the lab, tell them to show up in the same place in 24 hours. If the follow-up session will be on the web, tell them to complete the follow-up session as soon as possible when they receive the email in 24 hours. Then, go to their computer and fill out the post-study questionnaire to report issues (if any) that popped up during data collection. **Time 2** Before participants arrive, start up the study from the bookmarked link and fill out the experimenter questionnaire documenting your race/ethnicity, gender, and the number of participants for that session. Once participants arrive, the experimenter records relevant information into the sign-in sheet. Make sure to sign them in under the same subject # they received in Time 1. Sign participants into the study, making sure to entering the appropriate subject #. Once a participant is done and checks in with you, hand them a paper debriefing and offer to answer any questions they might have. [1]: https://osf.io/9nc82/
