Description: This is a collection of materials developed to facilitate a lesson on data literacy for a third grade audience. The lesson focuses on observation and critical thinking, using the South Haven lighthouse keeper's log as a jumping off point for a hands-on activity describing the weather. By examining their peers' words and the ones provided by the lighthouse keeper, students will recognize that both people and primary sources represent a certain perspective, and it might be necessary to gather more points of view to obtain the whole picture.
