If you downloaded the .zip file for 2005 or 2004-2015 before June 9, 2014, please run the "Edu error fixing for 2005 data.sps' syntax in the file section on the data files to fix this error. !!! **** From 2004 to present, the Weapons IAT was available on the Project Implicit demonstration website (https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/selectatest.html Click on “Weapons IAT” to try it yourself). The Weapons IAT includes one standard IAT (Black vs. White; Weapons vs. Harmless objects), sets of explicit measures (such as association of weapons with Black or White people), sets of personality and political opinion questions (such as Big Five Inventory, Bayesian Racism Scale, Right-Wing Authoritarianism, etc.; subjects only answer 10 randomly selected questions out of all the sets), set of demographic questions (age, gender, education level, number of children, etc.), and debriefing questions about how respondents thought about their IAT score after the task. In 2022, the task was changed to have more modern images in the IAT for weapons and objects. 10% of participants were assigned to complete the 'old' version, and 90% assigned to completed the updated version. From 2004 to the end of 2017, there are 1,184,515 session IDs created for Weapons IAT, and the overall completion rate is around 47.3%. There were 747,107 respondents who completed the standard IAT part of the task, which is 63.1% of the total respondents. Under this OSF project, you may download 1) Weapons IAT data sets with IAT score computed, self-report data labeled, and demographic information by year or for all years; 2) codebooks associated with each data set; 3) experiment materials and description of procedure; 4) Skeleton syntax for SPSS to start your own data analysis. The public data sets don't have participants' zip code/postcode to protect privacy. The data sets, however, have state, county, Metropolitan Statistical Area information for respondents who reported US zip codes.
