Wiki Version:
The Canadian Fire Spread Dataset (CFSDS) is an event-based fire growth database built on the combination of high-precision fire event boundaries and multi-sensor active fire detections. In version 1.0 we provide a collection of interpolated wildfire growth progression maps and associated environmental covariates (e.g. fuels, weather) for all wildfires larger than 1,000 ha occurring in the forested areas of Canada from 2002 to 2021. We combine VIIRS and MODIS hotspots to produce a daily-scale interpolation for each fire with at least 6 recorded hotspots, and delineate fire boundaries using pre-processed fire polygon boundaries.
