Description: Contains materials developed with support from a Social Science Meta-Analysis and Research Transparency (SSMART) grant awarded in 2016 by the Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences (BITSS). Project title: "Bayesian Evidence Synthesis: New Meta-Analytic Procedures for Measuring, Monitoring, Combining, and Projecting Statistical Evidence" Project abstract: "We propose to develop a suite of meta-analytic techniques for Bayesian evidence synthesis. The proposed suite addresses a series of challenges that currently constrain classical meta-analytic procedures. Specifically, our proposed techniques allow (1) the quantification of evidence, both for and against the absence of an effect; (2) the monitoring of evidence as new studies accumulate over time; (3) the graceful and principled "model-averaged" combination between fixed-effect and random-effects meta-analysis; (4) the principled planning of a new study in order maximize the probability that it will lead to a worthwhile gain in knowledge."
