# Mind in the Eyes Each trial of Mind in the Eyes presents a photo of human eyes, and asks the participant to choose from a set of four words that describe the mental state of the person in the image. ![Sample mind in the eyes trial][1] ### Our task procedure To determine the dual-process characteristics of Mind in the Eyes performance, we induced cognitive load via strings of remembered letters. In the load condition, each trial was followed by a random letter. At the end of a set of trials, participants would be asked to recall all the letters seen during that set.
