In this talk, we present a pre-registered, large-sample study of proactive similarity-based interference in three languages: English, German, and Russian. We adopt van Dyke and McElree (2006)’s dual task paradigm, and used eye-tracking-while-reading data as our online processing measure. We ask whether list items held in working memory interfere with dependency formation during online processing. We find no evidence for this in any of the languages tested.
