Wiki Version:
1. Hypotheses (Confirmatory Tests) We expect a moderation between the RCR scale and temperature for participants who list people *after* they have touched the temperature cup: - People who score low on the RCR scale (greater closeness) will think about closer others when the water in the cup is cold than when the water is warm. - People who score high on the RCR scale (lesser closeness) will think about closer others when the water in the cup is warm than when the water is cold The RCR consists of the following items A. My romantic partner makes me doubt myself. B. I feel comfortable sharing my private thoughts and feelings with my partner. C. I find it easy to depend on romantic partners. We don't anticipate finding the same results for those participants who list people *before* they touch the cup (but we are relatively uncertain about this hypothesis a priori). 2. Exploratory Tests We also anticipate running a number of exploratory tests, primarily testing the relationship between the STRAQ-1 and attachment and between the STRAQ-1 and temperature condition. NB1: We are testing these participants during a relatively warm week in the Netherlands (warmer than usual). This *may* affect our results.
