Description: This online experiment uses a between subjects’ design and has four conditions. UK regular alcohol consumers will be required to choose a drink from a selection of six alcoholic drinks and six non-alcoholic drinks (primary outcome). These alcoholic drinks will either be wine or beer depending on the preference of the participant. If in a PHWL condition, one of three PHWLs will be displayed on the alcoholic drinks, in addition to the current standard labelling. The PHWLs will either link alcohol and 1. immunity against viral infections, 2. bowel cancer or 3. damage to an unborn baby. If a participant is allocated to the control condition, the alcoholic drinks will display the current standard labelling only. Participants will then be asked about their risk perception/emotional responses as secondary outcomes as outlined below.
