Wiki Version:
This project comprises a stimulus set of 39 everyday, environmental sounds. Each sound used in this project was sourced from www.soundeffectsplus.com and cropped to 20 seconds in duration. A sample of 116 participants (ages 18-70 years, M = 35, SD = 13, 73 females) rated these sounds on the emotions they convey on 9-point scales in terms of 1) valence (1 = negative, 9 = positive) and 2) arousal (1 = low energy, 9 = high energy). The mean ratings for the valence and arousal of all 39 stimuli are provided here.
