Description: Despite the fears and beliefs related to sexual function and satisfaction during pregnancy, the healthy experience of sexuality (which is not reduced to these aspects but encompasses them) during pregnancy, is relevant to women quality of life and well-being. In the health care provided during pregnancy, the assessment of sexual function and satisfaction, can be determinant, not only for the development of knowledge on the effect of pregnancy in these areas, but also, to identify problems and be able to respond appropriately to the pregnant woman. Health care professionals can play a decisive role in prenatal care consultations and in preparation courses for childbirth. In this context, it’s important to identify the instruments that are used to measure sexual function and satisfaction, as well as to analyse the effectiveness of the application of these instruments.
