# DepressionDC #### Transcranial direct current stimulation as add-on to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in adults with major depressive disorder (DepressionDC): a triple-blind, randomized, sham-controlled multicenter trial ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: [NCT02530164][1] *** ### Description The DepressionDC trial aims to investigate the efficacy of repeated transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) as an add-on to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) in patients with for major depressive disorder (MDD). Study participants receive either active tDCS (2mA for 30 minutes) or sham treatment (ramp in and out periods only) for 6 weeks. The study includes a follow-up phase of 6 months. To gain insight into potential neurobiological underpinnings of tDCS treatment, patients had the option to participate in adjunctive neurocognitive, (epi-)genetic and magnetic resonance imaging investigations. For a more detailled description please refer to the study protocol (see Documents) or this [pre-published outline][2]. The study has been recently concluded, with the last patient visit in February 2021, and is currently in analysis by an independent biometrician of the [Institut für Medizinische Informationsverarbeitung Biometrie und Epidemiologie (IBE)][4], following the statistical analysis plan (see Documents). *** ### Trial Sites #### [Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapie, LMU Klinikum Munich][5] Principal and Coordinating Investigator: [Prof. Dr. med.
