The results of Experiment 1 indicated an order effect as the actor of the first punch (Mark) was more to blame than the actor of the second punch (John). We found no effects of grammatical aspect on judgments of blame. We hypothesized that maybe the first actor is to blame more because we asked about his blame first. Therefore, in Experiment 2 we added a condition in which the order of the questions was altered so that we asked about the blame of the second actor (for the scuffle and for the injury) first.
