The Open Online Newspaper Initiative (Open ONI) software for digital newspaper repositories is one of the many collaborative software development projects incorporating support for the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), leveraging existing software and community-driven technical specifications for interoperable web-based image delivery. Open ONI aims to provide an out-of-the-box solution for state and local digital newspaper collections, making repository design and maintenance easier on institutions and providing a satisfying user experience.
