**Getting started with the Characterisation Virtual Laboratory (CVL) for analysing Big Data with remote HPC** ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Kathryn Hall***, Jafar Lie, Irek Porebski, Edan Scriven, Juliana Villa-Ortiz, Lance Wilson, Graham Galloway and Wojtek Goscinski.* *presenter ---------- This presentation was delivered at the [VIS2021][1] symposium on 18 February, 2021. The VIS2021 symposium was an entirely online event, held 16–19 February, 2021, and organised by the [Australian Microscopy & Microanalysis Society][2]. The [full program][3] of talks is available at the website for the symposium. This presentation introduces the [Characterisation Virtual Laboratory][4] (CVL) and provides instructions to potential users on how to apply for an account. This repository holds: 1. the abstract for the presentation (as *.docx); 2. a recording of the presentation (as *.mp4); 3. a copy of the slides (as *.pptx) used in the presentation; and 4. a transcript of the talk (as *.docx). The talk was attended by 31 participants and ran for 30 mins (25 mins + 5 mins Q&A).
