**MBR2** ======= The Model-Based Research and Reproducibility Workshop is a workshop that took place at the Center for Open Science February 4-5, 2020. This workshop had a product-focused discussion that is complementary to the substantive debates around the applicability of preregistration and other methodologies to modeling research. In particular, we examined existing workflows for preregistration and research planning to identify their applicability to modeling research, opportunities for innovation and improvement to enhance their applicability, and identified boundary conditions for their use. Also, we seek to generate designs of alternative research planning workflows that could be broadly useful for modeling research applications. Read more [here][1]. ---------- **Groups** ===== The workshop is divided into three groups, each with their own focus and desired outcomes. **Group 1: Ways to Maximize Credibility and Robustness Beyond Preregistration** - Focus: Besides preregistration, what processes and methodologies could improve the credibility and robustness of model-based research? - Desired Outcomes: (1) Identify existing best practices and supporting tools and services that promote credibility and robustness, (2) Identify potential processes or methodologies that are not yet served well by existing products and services, (3) Define requirements and/or wireframe a product or service that could be created to address that gap. **Group 2: Conceptualizing Preregistration for Model Comparison and Model Evaluation** - Focus: How can preregistration workflows be adapted to support [Model Comparison and Model Evaluation][2] research? - Desired Outcomes: Starting by reviewing existing preregistration workflows, define (1) a metadata format for Model Comparison and/or Model Evaluation research, (2) requirements and/or wireframes for updating the preregistration workflows for these research topics. **Group 3: Model Application Preregistration Form Review and Improvement** - Focus: How can the proposed Model Application preregistration format be optimized and improved for implementation on OSF? - Desired Outcomes: A final specification and requirements for implementing a [Model Application preregistration form][3] to make it interpretable, usable, and effective for the widest possible audience.
