This project includes documentation supporting the implementation of the [Transparency and Openness Promotion (TOP) guidelines][1] and [Badges for Open Practices][2] at the journal *Cortex*. Materials include [author guidelines][3], [FAQs][4], submission checklists for [regular articles][5] (including Research Reports, Letters, Notes and Exploratory Reports), for [Stage 1][6] and [Stage 2][7] Registered Reports, and the [TOP introductory editorial][8]. The Registered Reports checklists also incorporate features and requirements of the *Cortex* [Registered Reports policy][9]. *Cortex* achieves a minimum of Level 2 on all TOP standards and awards Open Data, Open Materials and Preregistered badges. Checklists are implemented using the Elsevier Editorial System (EES).
