# About the data There are three data files: - **Complete_data.Rda** contains the eye-tracking data and information about the words that were read. - **IndDiffs.Rda** contains information about the subjects and their scores on the measures of social cognition and reading-related measures. - **Preprocessing log.txt** contains information about pre-processing decisions, and whether individual trials of the story, as read by the participants, should be included or not. ## Variables in Complete_data.Rda - **subid**: subject number - **ianum**: numerical position of interest area (i.e. word) in the section - **sentnum**: numerical position of sentence in the section - **trialnum**: trial/section number - **wordid**: unique identifier for words that is a combination of ianum, sentnum, and trialnum - **skip**: skip rate, binary variable indicating whether a word was skipped (1) or not (0) - **firstrun.dur**: gaze duration, continuous variable that is the sum of all fixations on a word during the first run of reading - **reread**: rereading rate, binary variable indicating whether a word was reread (1) or not (0) - **VP_cat**: viewpoint marker category, categorical variable indicating whether a word is a perceptual (PVP), cognitive (CPV), or emotional viewpoint marker (EVP), or non of these (Non). - **VP_L**: viewpoint marker, binary variable indicating whether a word is a perceptual, cognitive, or emotional viewpoint marker (1) or not (0) - **no_letters**: number of letters, continuous variable indicating how many letters the word consists of - **FREQlemma**: lemma frequency, taken from: http://crr.ugent.be/programs-data/subtitle-frequencies/subtlex-nl/downloading (column "FREQlemma") - **wordclass**: word class, categorical variable indicating whether the word is a function word or content word - **outlier_3SD_gaze**: categorical variable indicating whether an observed value for gaze duration is more than 3 SD's away from the subject-specific mean gaze duration (1) or not (0), or NA (999) - **include**: categorical variable indicating whether a word is to be included in the analysis after automatic pre-processing (in), included in the analysis after manual pre-processing (MANUAL), or excluded (out) ## Variables in IndDiffs.Rda - **Subject**: subject number - **Age**: subject age - **Gender**: subject gender (F = female, M = male, note that there was an "other" option, but none of the subjects used this option) - **AUTISM**: categorical variable indicating whether subjects reported an autism diagnosis (1) or not (0) (note that there was an "prefer not to say" option, but none of the subjects used this option) - **AUTISM_1_TEXT**: string variable indicating what autism diagnosis subjects had, if any - **CC_total**: total comprehension score (min = 0, max = 3) - **IRI_PT_score**: mean score on IRI Perspective-Taking items (min = 1, max = 7) - **IRI_FS_score**: mean score on IRI Fantasy items (min = 1, max = 7) - **IRI_EC_score**: mean score on IRI Empathic Concern items (min = 1, max = 7) - **IRI_PD_score**: mean score on IRI Personal Distress items (min = 1, max = 7) - **IRI_score**: mean score on all IRI items (min = 1, max = 7) - **MET_L_mean**: mean score on MET items (min = 1, max = 9) - **VPT_altercentric_intrusion**: altercentric intrusion (ms) as measured in the VPT - **VPT_egocentric_intrusion**: egocentric intrusion (ms) as measured in the VPT - **STOMP_score**: STOMP score (min = 0, max = 100) - **ART**: ART score (min = -12, max = 30) ## Variables in Preprocessing log.txt - **Subject**: subject number - **Slide 1 - 56**: different sections of the story (1-56)
