Wiki Version:
This session will give a short introduction — in a live programming format — to the LaTeX typesetting language. It’ll closely follow (a condensed version of) the structure of Tobias Oetiker et al.s excellent book entitled ‘The Not So Short Introduction to LATEX (or LaTeX in 139 minutes)’. That is, we will i.) first briefly introduce the history of LaTeX, followed by a minimum working example in the article class. We’ll ii.) talk about the preamble, the title page, and structuring our documents more generally. We will then iii.) work on customising our documents to include things like itemized (and enumerated) lists, tables, graphics and floating bodies, before moving onto iv.) typesetting equations and v.) bibliography generation.
