We provide an account for focus and contrastive topic that is uniformly applicable for both assertions and questions. While focus uses alternatives in a disjunctive way, contrastive topic uses them conjunctively. This predicts taht contrastive topic must scope over focus. Our object language is Turkish, which has a focus marker for polar questions and distinguishes that clearly from contrastive topics.
Dear SALT organizers,
we apologize for being late with the submission of the abstract and hope that it is still possible to upload it and create an OSF site for the talk.
Greetings,
