The survey included nine pages of questions, relating to the scales described briefly below.
The complete survey is attached to this component (EAMMI2004Election_longform_Survey.pdf). There were two measures of emerging adulthood (‘Inventory of the Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood’, Reifman, et al., 2007; ‘Markers of Adulthood’, Arnett, 2001) and items measuring voting preferences and political affiliation/attitudes (‘Political Attitude Strength’, Berger & Alwitt, 1996; ‘Political Self-Regulation’, Koestner, Losier, Vallerand, & Carducci, 1996, and ‘Political Information-Seeking’, Walker & Iverson, 2009).
Other related constructs included: ‘Day-to-Day Experiences’ (Brown & Ryan, 2003), ‘Subjective Overachievement Scale’ (Oleson, Poehlmann, Yost, Lynch, & Arkin, 2000), ‘Disability Identity’ (Nario-Redmond, Noel, & Fern, 2012), criminogenic traits (Levenson, Kiehl, & Fitzpatrick, 1995; Wiebe, 2003), ‘Feelings about Yourself’ (Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985), a single-item measure of self-esteem (Robins, Hedin, & Trzesniewski, 2001), and ‘Perceived Esteem Inventory’ (Hermann, Lucas, & Freidrich, 2008).
The attached Table of EAMMI Descriptive Statistics contains descriptive statistics for the scales. To minimize the impact of missing data, the mean, rather than the sum, was computed. Because different instructors limited the survey length (8 samples only completed part of the survey), the number of schools contributing is also noted in the Table of Overall Means. Each construct is described in greater detail on the attached file (EAMMI_Constructs.pdf).
