- **Procedure**
Stimulus presentation and response collection were set up using E-Prime® 2.0 software.
Stimuli were always printed in black (20 Verdana) on a grey background to avoid eye fatigue.
**TASK 1**
Fixation cross for 1000 ms
Verb presentation at the centre of the screen, visible until the end of the trial.
Participants were instructed to simply type a sentence on the keyboard using the word they were reading (a window on the screen allowed them to see what they were typing).
They were not told that all stimuli were verbs, they were just instructed to write a sentence using the presented words.
The task aimed principally at tracking down potentially “ambiguous” verbs, that is, those that are commonly used as either a verb or a noun, in order to discard the ones that may be often used as nouns.
**TASK 2**
Fixation cross for 1000 ms
Verb presentation at the centre of the screen, visible until the end of the trial.
This time participants were asked to rate each verb from 1 to 7 depending on how much they thought the verb described a voluntary and bodily action or movement. A rating of 1 meant the action wasn't bodily at all, while a rating of 7 meant the action was judged as extremely bodily.
Responses were given by clicking with the mouse the chosen number on the screen and then clicking the "OK" button
