Wiki Version:
**Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) Investment Calculator** -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- **What does it do?** EBP Investment Calculator is designed to help you determine what percentage of your school/district funding is spent on educational practices supported by research evidence that is correlational or more rigorous in design, and would therefore meet ESSA Tier III or higher evidence requirements. **What do I need to do?** For each item in which you invest funds, you will need to associate it with an educational practice selected from a dropdown list (shown in List of Practices tab). For example, you may spend funds on teacher stipends and associate this investment with the educational practice "PD - instructional strategies." You also need to enter the dollar amount spent on each item. This tool will show you which of these items are supported by research evidence and the percentage of your total investments which are being used for EBP. Before you get started, you may want to take a look through the List of Practices tab to see what you can choose from. If you invest in practices that are not listed, you can still use this tool, but you will need to conduct your own evidence search and come up with a rating of the evidence using our rating definitions in Row 30 and below in this tab. The Demonstration Example tab (tab furthest to the right) illustrates a populated EBP Investment Calculator so you can see an example of how it might be filled in. It serves only as a example and has no effect on your results. **Where is EBP Investment Calculator's "evidence" from?** Our research team searched for, reviewed, and summarized research evidence for practices that have been widely adopted in schools. Most ratings are based on research found in four reputable databases of educational research: *What Works Clearinghouse, Evidence for ESSA, Education Endowment Foundation, and Education Resources Information Center*. Some ratings (especially for reading and math programs) are based on a wider body of research including studies found in Google Scholar and on vendor websites. Our evidence pool includes only research using quantitative methods (i.e., correlational, quasi-experimental, or experimental designs).
