I will first present an observational survey using the Cosmic Original Spectrograph (COS) that probes the multiphase structures of the CGM from 0.1 to 10 $R_{\rm vir}$ of 194 galaxies in the low redshift Universe. This reveals a finite extent in the multi-phase structure, an "ion-boundary" of the CGM. Second, I will present a series of comparisons with simulations of variety of subgrid models (e.g., SNe, radiation feedback and cosmic ray feedback). I will discuss the interpretation and implications of the multi-phase profiles, in particular the self-similarity of the CGM in both mass and redshift.
