Wiki Version:
In this presentation, we will discuss the process we used to design an asynchronous online course on statistics at a large hospital system. This project was sparked by a survey showing residents needed more support in statistics. The three presenters, two librarians and an eLearning expert, collaborated to come up with a solution tailored to the busy schedules of healthcare professionals. The final course combines original and existing content into a microlearning style course, covering how to do the most commonly used statistical tests on EHR data in GraphPad Prism. This course will enable more hospital employees, from residents, to fellows, to nurses, to do data-intensive projects that would previously have been out of their reach. In this presentation, we will cover (1) how we assessed need and decided what topics to cover in our course, (2) how we collaboratively designed the course and created the content, and (3) how we did outreach and promoted the course. This presentation is intended as a practical guide for data professionals who may want to create something similar in their own institution
