script1_sampling_final is the script that samples from the population of articles of interest. script2_checking_final is the script that lets us check the correct articles were downloaded for each subsample, input full publication date information, and write a file containing Article ID number and corresponding references for the full sample. It requires to have run script 1. script3_joining_final is the script that combines all datasets from the previous and current research, and writes a file that will be used for the analysis. It can be run without having run scripts 1 and 2 as the dataset generated by script 2 is available online. script4_descriptives_final is the script that computes the sample sizes in the methods section and the descriptive results in the results section. It requires to have run script 3. script5_models_final is the script that fits the preregistered models described in the methods and results and generates the model plots. It requires to have run script 3. script6_receptiondate_final is the script generating the results and plot presented in the first subsection of the exploratory results. It requires to have run script 3. script7_2017editorial_final is the script generating the results and plot presented in the second subsection of the exploratory results. It requires to have run script 3.
