Wiki Version:
Study 2 is an assessment of the Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood Across age as well as an exploration of possible predictors of identity exploration. Conclusions are based on a sample of 650 adults aged 18-61. The data collected for this examination was collected from an online anonymous survey including the IDEA (Arnett, 2000), a Revised version of the Markers of Adulthood Scale (Norman et al., 2020), the Perceived-Esteem Inventory (Hermann, Lucas, & Friedrich, 2008), and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965). Dimensions of Emerging Adulthood were found to decrease significantly as participant age increased. Further, perceived-esteem and self-esteem did not appear to predict identity exploration when controlling for participant gender and age. Women were on average more likely to participate in identity exploration than men, although both genders experienced a decrease in interest as they increased in age. Because only a small portion of participants identified as a gender other than male or female, no conclusions could be made concerning their tendencies toward identity exploration.
