This OSF project accompanies the manuscript: Spektor, M. S., Kellen, D., & Klauer, K. C. (2022). The repulsion effect in preferential choice and its relation to perceptual choice. *Cognition, 225*, 105164. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cognition.2022.105164 The project is organized as follows: 1. **analyses.ipynb**: A Jupyter (https://jupyter.org/) notebook containing the main analyses reported in the manuscript 2. **analyses.R**: An R (https://www.r-project.org/) script containing the ANOVA analyses reported in the main text 3. **analysis_mixture_similarity.R**: An R (https://www.r-project.org/) script containing the mixture analysis reported in Appendix subsection Similarity or repulsion? 4. **dataset_clean.csv**: Behavioral data of valid experimental trials (i.e., excluding catch trials and timed-out trials) 5. **dataset_full.csv**: Raw behavioral data 6. The folder **logistic_regression** contains: - **logreg_perceptual.nc**: Fitted posterior distribution of the hierarchical logistic regression in the perceptual condition reported in the main text. File is in the NetCDF format and can be opened, for example, using ArviZ (https://python.arviz.org) - **logreg_preferential.nc**: Fitted posterior distribution of the hierarchical logistic regression in the preferential condition reported in the main text. File is in the NetCDF format and can be opened, for example, using ArviZ (https://python.arviz.org) 7. **modeling_results_cells.pkl**: Model-fitting results in which the MLBA has been separately fitted to each cell of the experimental design (reported in the Appendix subsection A maximally flexible version of the model) 8. **modeling_results_softmax.pkl**: Model-fitting results in which the MLBA was fitted to choices only (reported in the Appendix subsection A model without response times) 9. **modeling_results.pkl**: Model-fitting results reported in the main text 10. The folder **models** contains: - **binomial_model.stan**: Model file for Stan (https://mc-stan.org/) for the model that was used to analyze transition patterns - **logistic_regression.stan**: Model file for Stan (https://mc-stan.org/) for the logistic regression - **MLBA_softmax.stan**: Model file for Stan (https://mc-stan.org/) for the MLBA that was fitted to choices only - **MLBA.stan**: Model file for Stan (https://mc-stan.org/) for the MLBA analyses reported in the main text - **rst_model_session1.stan**: Model file for Stan (https://mc-stan.org/) for the model that was used to analyze relative choice shares of the target in the first session (reported in the Appendix subsection Transfer effects) - **rst_model.stan**: Model file for Stan (https://mc-stan.org/) for the model that was used to analyze relative choice shares of the target in the main text 11. **preregistration-context-effects-preferential.pdf**: The preregistration document 12. **transitions.csv**: Pre-processed eye-tracking data that contains all transitions 13. **trials.txt**: All 700 experimental trials that participants encountered in each of the two conditions (presentation order was randomized for each participant and session) Correspondence should be sent to: Mikhail Spektor ([mikhail@spektor.ch][1]) [1]: mailto:mikhail@spektor.ch
