## Bio My name is Joshua Borycz. I began my academic career as a computational chemist at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with Laura Gagliardi. My research focused on performing quantum mechanical calculations on the utility of metal-organic frameworks for applications involving magnetism, carbon dioxide capture, and catalysis. I shifted to studying information science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville when I encountered major issues with the research process that impede scientific efficiency and communication. Currently, I am a STEM Librarian at Vanderbilt University, where I teaching information literacy, research methods, and data management in courses and research groups. Outside of work I like to lift weights, run, dance, and do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (and of course watch too much Netflix). My favorite movie is Into the Wild, my favorite book is Man's Search for Meaning, and my favorite TV show is The Wire. ## Research question I will investigate whether aberrant GABA receptor activity results in cognitive deficits characteristic of Alzheimer's, and whether pharmacological interventions targeting the GABA system could serve as a potential therapeutic strategy. ## Files * **minisummary_gaba_alzheimers_20230404.xlsx:** Notes on literature used to write the review.
