**Replication Package for *"Disadvantaged by Chance? Examining the Persistence of Relative Age Effects on Educational Achievement"***
This project provides R-codes for replicating the article *"Disadvantaged by Chance? Examining the Persistence of Relative Age Effects on Educational Achievement"* by Robin Benz and Tobias Ackermann. The analyses draw on data from "Checks im Bildungsraum Nordwestschweiz" (https://www.swissubase.ch/de/catalogue/studies/13889/18123/overview; Ref. 13889), which were linked to administrative data provided by the Federal Statistical Office and the Central Compensation Office (Contract Number: 220506).
We structured the folder which you can download in a way that it runs with the provided code. The code files are included in the folder "RAE", whereas the data is to be stored in the folder "Raw". The entire code can be run using the file "RAE_Main.R", which includes further information about the code files. Please note that you preferably place the downloaded folder to your desktop to make sure that the paths of the scripts run smoothly.
Further, we included a .csv which contains information on all packages used throughout our analysis including their versions. If needed, the R package "Require" offers options to easily manipulate the version of packages currently available in your version of R. We ran our analysis on R version 4.2.1.
The folders for the data from the Checks and from the FSO are labeled. It should be clear where to place the data. However, your data will probably have slightly different names as the titles will include dates. In our scripts we automatically read in data by names. Hence, make sure that you replace the names with the ones that apply to your version of the data.
