We held our second Research Transparency and Evidence workshop in Kigali Rwanda on 15th February, 2018 hosted by the College of Business and Economics, University of Rwanda
We were privileged to have EPRN and UR-Sweden Program co-convening the event with us
We had a talk from a M$E expert on how important credible evidence is for the monitoring and evaluation function. From a practitioner’s perspective, data analysis that informs decision making is paramount for belter programmes that address the needs of the local population.
The discussion around ethical issues associated with researcher degrees of freedom including data mining, p-hacking, HARKing and publication bias was very useful to bring to light why we need to commit to do what we promise to do as researchers in form of Pre-Analysis-Plans
Pre-registration of PAPs is not only essential to address the above problems but has a potential benefit to have our work easily published, increase citations and most important making our evidence more accessible and usable by policy makers
