Data from multiple labs is beginning to suggest the importance of a potential interaction between relationship partners' pornography use when predicting relationship functioning. In a broad sense, this positive interaction appears to buffer, mitigate, or reverse documented negative associations between pornography use and relationship functioning.
The goal of this project is explore this effect with an eye towards conceptual replications using other measures of pornography use, expanding the range of relationship quality measures that the effects may apply to, and exploring / testing theoretically oriented mechanisms for these effects.
To this end, we will consider data from multiple sources, collected by different researchers, who have approached this topic with separate paradigms. Much of the data that will be considered was gathered in research programs that were initially intended for other primary purposes.
