Wiki Version:
This is a Medical Research Council (MRC)-funded project examining whether cognitivie bias modification (CBM) via response inhibition training shows potential for reducing binge-eating symptomatology in young adult binge-eaters. We primarily wish to assess whether the effects of CBM are potentiated or made more permanent by being applied during the putative reconsolidation of binge-related memories. The project will run from 2018 to 2021 in the Clinical Psychopharmacology Unit at University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom. The invesitgators running the project are Drs. Ravi Das and Sunjeev Kamboj (UCL), in collaboration with Professors Ulrike Schmidt (Kings College London) and Reinout Wiers (University of Amsterdam). We will be recruiting young adults (aged 18-24) who binge-eat but are otherwise psychiatrically healthy to take part in this experimental research. Please note that this is not a clinical trial or assessment of a clinical intervention, rather this is experimental research examining possible mechanisms for the development of better future therapies for binge-eating.
