Wiki Version:
The intellectual property and security issues that surround the creation, storage, and sharing of data require that particular care be taken during policy and workflow development surrounding institutional data repositories. There are two sides to addressing the problem: 1. Establishing a collection policy and internal workflows that ensure the repository is not providing access to sensitive data or materials that have intellectual property restrictions, and 2. Developing a user agreement and other policies that can help indemnify the institution against any potential misuse of the service that exposes inappropriate materials, intentionally or otherwise. We will discuss our current institutional circumstances and brainstorm what kind of resources would be most helpful to institutions in decision-making.
