Wiki Version:
Objectives: To assess the relationship between the use of acetaminophen during pregnancy and the risk of NDDs in children, we aim to: Objective 1. Apply rigorous state-of-the-art systematic review methodology to determine what conclusions can be scientifically drawn and supported from the existing studies, including the consideration, and evaluation of any systematic bias, and its direction and estimated magnitude. Objective 2. Determine reasons for conflicting or contradictory findings among existing studies, with special emphasis on identified confounders, and study designs. Objective 3: Determine the extent to which available data support an association between prenatal exposure to acetaminophen at different doses, and subtypes of NDDs, including an assessment of potential synergistic and/or antagonistic factors. Objective 4. Develop recommendations for additional research that can improve the accuracy and reliability of findings in this area.
