**Meta-data** **Title manuscript:** The public uptake of information about antibiotic resistance in the Netherlands. **Authors:** Van Rijn, M*, Haverkate, M**, Achterberg, P*, & Timen, A**. *=Tilburg University, Department of Sociology, Tilburg, the Netherlands, **=Dutch Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), Centre for Infectious Disease Control (LCI), Bilthoven, the Netherlands. **Survey:** The survey is designed by the four authors affiliated with Tilburg University and RIVM. The survey can be downloaded in section 'Files'. **Data collection:** In week 20 and 21 of 2016, we used the services of Flycathcer (https://www.flycatcher.eu/en) to collect a representative sample of 2,000 Dutch respondents via a stratified sampling procedure on their web-panel members. **Data analyses:** Michiel van Rijn and Peter Achterberg were responsible for the analyses of the data. **Writing:** All four authors were responsible for writing the manuscript. **Intervention:** The educational video we used in our study can be seen on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcTrpumqXW8&feature=youtu.be or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJFWo_utkaE The video is in Dutch since it serves to educate the Dutch public about how antibiotic resistance emerges and is created by the Dutch Institute for Public Health and the Environment (Rijksinstituut voor Volkgsgezondheid and Milieu) - https://www.rivm.nl/antibioticaresistentie/wat-is-antibioticaresistentie.
