Wiki Version:
**Objective.** Our objective is to understand efficacy of telemedicine or remote interventions for older adults experiencing depressive symptoms or depressive disorders living in the community. In our first month (Step 1) we will complete a rapid review of all telemedicine or remote treatment options for depressive symptoms and disorders14. Next, we will complete the first systematic review (Step 2) and Network Meta-analysis (NMA) on telemedicine and remote interventions for older adults with depressive symptoms or disorders –allowing ranking of interventions for depression and an understanding of what is most efficacious (6 Months). NMA allows assessment of comparative efficacy of all interventions concurrently, even if not compared in head-to-head trials. **Search**: Literature Search: We have developed searches with an experienced librarian using MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and PsycINFO. We will include all languages and dates. **Screening, Data Abstraction, and Risk of Bias (RoB) Assessment**: Title/abstract screening, full text review for inclusion and data abstraction will be completed by one reviewer for the rapid review (Step 1) and by two reviewers for the systematic review (Step 2). We will abstract data from included full texts for: (1) Study characteristics: publication year, geographic location, authors, sponsorship, sample size, study duration; (2) Participant characteristics: age, sex and gender, mental health diagnosis prior diagnosis of depression, severity of depressive symptoms at baseline, medications etc.; (3) Intervention details: components, duration, dose, etc.; (4) Outcomes: scores on depression rating scales (e.g. Geriatric Depression Scale) **Rapid Review Data Synthesis and Reporting (Step #1):** The rapid review will follow the established methods of WHO guide14. We will report study and participant characteristics, intervention details and depressive symptom outcomes in tables. All numerical measures will be reported as proportions or frequencies. Detailed descriptions of the interventions and their use will be included to facilitate uptake by health administrators and policy makers. **Systematic Review Data Synthesis and Reporting (Step #2)**: This review will follow the Cochrane Handbook methods20. NMA will be completed for each outcome category; depressive symptoms (as measured by any depression scale) or depression diagnoses (criterion-based diagnoses).
