Project Publications: Rühs, F., Greve, W., & Kappes, C. (2022). Inducing and blocking the goal to belong in an experimental setting: goal disengagement research using Cyberball. Motivation and Emotion, 46(6), 806–824. https://doi.org/10.1007/s11031-022-09975-w This project is part of Farina Rühs' PhD project. The main goal is to understand goal disengagement processes as described in classical developmental regulation theories in more detail. In particular, laboratory experimental approaches will be developed and tested to investigate goal disengagement processes in real time and resolved in different levels of observation. To this end, we use an adaptation of the Cyberball paradigm (Williams & Jarvis, 2006) to induce and block a goal that is as close to reality as possible (the goal of belonging to a group). In this osf-project, we provide detailed materials and results on the studies conducted to date (including their preregistrations, if available). As the project is ongoing, additional materials on new studies will be added on an ongoing basis.
