Wiki Version:
Expectations ------------ We conducted studies in the past in our lab using this induction for ego-depletion and found effect size of comparable magnitude. Thus, we expect an effect size ranging from medium to high (.5 < d < .9), similar to Hagger et al., (2010) meta-analysis on effect sizes, which had a mean effet size of d =.77 We will use a sample recruited among students at the University of Grenoble, all aged between 18 and 30. We computed a priori power analyses to estimate our sample size. Power analysis showed that we needed a sample of 165 participants (d = 0.57, α = 0.5, Power = .95). We used an effect size of .57, corresponding to the lower boundary of the 95% CI on effect size to maximize power, instead f the point estimate. To bolster our estimation, and since it is the first attempt to validate this induction in a French sample, we will raise our sample to 200 participants to increase the quality of our estimation. Basic demographic data for each participant will be recorded (age, gender)
