This layer shows seven land-cover categories across the seven-county Chicago region. The data are at a 1 ft resolution and were created using 2017 LiDAR. The land cover categories are: 1: Tree canopy 2: Vegetation 3: Bare soil 4: Water 5: Buildings 6: Roads/rail 7: Other paved This layer was created by the University of Vermont's spatial analytics lab. The project was managed by the Morton Arboretum and was funded by the US Forest Service.
