Wiki Version:
We have created ELAN transcripts for each post, often using creators' original captions as a base for our English translations, and adding [ID glosses using ASL Signbank](https://youtu.be/l0Vj6uFUj7khttps://youtu.be/l0Vj6uFUj7k) for individual signs as well as notes about changes to signing because of [emboxed discourse](https://x.com/jahochcam/status/1298028954788528128). The English translations are available as captions in the video and in our [ELAN transcripts (.eafs)](https://archive.mpi.nl/tla/elan). The ID glosses, which are sign-by-sign English labels to make the video data machine-readable, are only available in our ELAN transcripts (.eafs). You need to download the [ELAN program](https://archive.mpi.nl/tla/elan) to open .eafs but you can also right-click and open them as text-only files to read them in their [xml format](https://www.w3.org/standards/xml/core#:~:text=What%20is%20XML%3F,more%20suitable%20for%20Web%20use.). To read more about how we process our data, see [this](https://sites.google.com/gallaudet.edu/card/data). Annotators for SoMe ASL are [Julie A. Hochgesang (JAH)](https://www.juliehochgesang.com/) and [Cem Barutcu (CB)](https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/linguistics/gradstudents/cb55839), both deaf and fluent in ASL. There are 17 transcripts posted here, although our dataset actually includes 20 transcripts. We have only posted the transcripts here for the videos we have permission to use publicly, as long as their original video is cited (https://sites.google.com/gallaudet.edu/card/data/some-asl). **SoMe ASL videos and transcripts**: total number of videos and transcripts: 20 (17 public) total length of time (all): 18m 55s average length of video (all): ~1 minute total number of participants (all): 19 total number of annotations (all): 1825 To cite the collection of transcripts, see citation information on this page (top right). To cite individual transcripts, treat it as a chapter in a book with the transcript collection as the book itself.
