Attachment theorists have long debated the relative contribution of attachment anxiety and avoidance to psychological maladaptation. In this study, we examine which combination of attachment dimensions predict the experience of depressive symptoms in a sample of 690 youth. Furthermore, we examine whether changes in attachment security predict changes in depressive symptoms over time and vice versa.
